It uses a high-precision laser or waterjet cutter and can be used for both prototyping and production runs of parts. CNC profile cutting offers advantages over traditional methods of fabricating Sheet Metal components, such as faster turnaround times and greater accuracy, with less waste material produced. 

The process works by first creating a model or drawing of the desired shape in a CAD (Computer Aided Design) program. This model is then exported into CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software, which converts it into instructions that are sent to the CNC machine.
